Through the Looking Glass

"A lot of photographers feel their art is to discover who you are. Anton is about who you might be."

The Countdown Begins

Yes, despite my brother's best efforts to change my musical tastes, I'm in final countdown to my first Clay Aiken concert of the summer. I'm all atwitter (is that a word?) with travel plan (what was I thinking going to Buffalo?) and waiting for any news of the set list for the tour.

I'm fully aware that this does not make me cool. It's pure cheesey goodness.

Plus I've got my fingers crossed that I'll be coming back with some good concert photographs.

Let the Summer of Fun III begin!

FINALLY!!

It looks like we will finally have a nice weekend with no expected downpours. I can actually take my cameras out without having to dodge raindrops. Whoo hoo!

It's funny. When I first started this blog I had great visions of posting long philosophical discussions, rants and inspirational quotes. Instead, I'm commenting on iPods, photography and wanting to leave the office early on Friday.

I guess I'm discovering I'm a very shallow person. Is that supposed to be the point of self-discovery?

Deflate Expectations

Ah yes. That post conference let down caused by the fact I actually expected to learn something this weekend. There were a couple of good presentations, and also some bombs. My friend seemed to enjoy her Harry Potter book more and the highlight of my weekend was finding out The Edge was on the cover of GuitarWorld this month.

I've got to stop building up anticipation for things....

Workin For The Weekend

It's a phenomenon that happens every summer. Friday afternoon escapes. Preceeded by Friday morning itching-to-escape. I've got piles of work on my desk, but I know it's nice outside (plus I have a conference this weekend that I'm really excited about) and I don't want to be stuck behind my desk.

I want to be free!

The South Rises Again

Yesterday I went to see a local Civil War re-inactment. Don't get many of those here in the North. Great chance to get some unusual picture. The South won the battle, which was a little confusing for this transplanted Canadian. I asked if this meant we all got to start drinking sweet tea (which I love). No dice.

A Man With Style

Went to see Michael Buble the other day. What a performer that guy is! Smooth and fun. He even tried out a little opera and pop (not to mention a few lighthearted digs at Clay). He's definitely a very Canadian kind of guy. You felt you could put some skates on him and slap a puck around.

There She Stands

Yes, I know. It's almost nauseatingly patriotic to do the Statue of Liberty on the July 4th weekend.

One

Just a minute - Snoop Dog in pigtails is representng the African nations? Live 8 (while being an interesting political and cultural event) is awash in snark potential? Are all the announcers high? Does Will Smith really believe all Americans are equal?

Stop Laughing

For those of you who have been laughing at my describing my iPod as modern sculpture, I have vindication. Yesterday at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, guess what was there in the design section???

So, at least someone else agrees with me!

More New York photos later.....
